The new year typically brings in new trends, and home design trends are no different. Given that we’re still spending more time at home than ever, it’s no surprise that people are starting to put additional thought into what kind of design aesthetic they’re looking to bring into their main living spaces. Nature, calm, and comfort are the home design buzzwords of the year and the 2022 color trends show that there is no better way to incorporate these ideas into your homes than by surrounding yourself with colors and decor that bring you tranquility and peace.
Below, we touch on some of the nature-inspired and complimenting trends for 2022 that we hope inspire you as you consider how best to update your space in the new year.
Go Green
The experts agree, the hottest paint colors this year are the many stunning shades of green. Whether you’re looking to add earthy and calming soft greens to your space, or want to go bolder with deep forest greens, anything goes here! As a tip: Yellow and blue are the core undertones to consider when deciding on a green paint color. Be sure to test out samples on your walls before committing as, similar to grays, lighting and wood accents can make all the difference in the final look.
If you’re searching for a simpler way to add greens to your decor, indoor plants are still very much in and a great way to incorporate this lovely, on-trend color in a more subtle way. Desert Tones
Staying true to the nature inspired looks we’re expecting to see this year, desert-inspired tones like mauve, blush, tan, brown, and terracotta are a great way to bring the outdoors in. To bring out the best in these colors and keep your space light, pair these colors with creams and pastels. As an added bonus these colors also look great with classic (and currently on-trend) gold finishes, but can just as easily be paired with silver, cool whites, or matte black.
Warm Neutrals
Warm neutrals are back! For any of you still storing some of those great decor or furniture finds from 10 years ago, it’s time to revisit old friends. Opting for comfy creams, whites, and beiges is the perfect way to add a warm lightness to any space while also complementing those green and desert tones.
Have some big decisions to make? When browsing wood tones for your floors or cabinets, consider pivoting towards light woods like white oak. Deciding on countertops? Creamy and luxe marble is a great choice. Not only are these options currently in the now but they are also classic, and built to stand the test of time.
Crown Jewels
Gravitating towards bold colors? Vibrant jewel-tones that evoke the roaring 20’s are a great way to add interest and moodiness to your space. Deep purples, ruby reds, emerald greens, and rich turquoises look amazing in any room – including bathrooms, home offices, and even kitchens. If you’re looking to incorporate this trend in a softer way, Pantone’s color of the year for 2022 is Veri Peri, which fits the bill perfectly.
Not quite sure you’re ready for solid, bold jewel tones on your walls but love the look? Consider adding decor accents or wallpaper prints that incorporate these colors in a minimalistic way.
Black and Gray Accents
One style we love that isn’t going away any time soon is incorporating black and dark gray accents into your space. Dark trim, accent walls, cabinets, or doors can add a neutral, but bold look to your home. As a bonus, these colors pair perfectly with many of the 2022 color trends, and can easily help pull your intended aesthetic together.
